WE BELIEVE THAT BLACK LIVES MATTER Get Involved

Give It All Away! ~ Mark 10:17-31

October 14, 2018 Peg Weissbrod

Today’s sermon begins shortly after the 31 minute mark. (The timing is slightly different on Apple devices.)

To those who are visiting today or who have only been worshiping with us for the past few months – each year at this time we have a Stewardship Campaign – we raise money in order to pay salaries, take care of the building, support our social justice work in the community, and pay for programs like youth groups and such. You will be hearing about this in our Minute for Missions. Read the rest of this entry »

Facing Uncertainty ~ John 20: 19-31

April 8, 2018 Peg Weissbrod

Jean Reinhold’s sermon begins at the 28 minute mark.

Before I begin, I was speaking to the Pathways kids this morning, as a member of the Co-pastor Nominating Committee, to update them on our progress. I asked them to write some advice for our new Co-pastor, whoever she will be. As for preaching, they said: Don’t give wordy and seemingly endless sermons. Make them interesting, engage the audience. Make sad topics funny, no one wants to be too sad. Well, I can promise none of those, today, but I will do my best. Read the rest of this entry »

Forgiving and Free ~ Luke 23: 34

March 4, 2018 Peg Weissbrod

In the recording of this morning’s worship service, Rev. Annich’s sermon on forgiveness begins around the 16 minute mark.

My dog, Trouper, has a problem with resentment. If there were a 12-Step Program for dogs, I would encourage him to attend the meetings. Read the rest of this entry »

In Your Lap ~ Isaiah 40:1-11; Mark 1:1-8

December 10, 2017 Peg Weissbrod

New members joined today. The sermon on this 2nd Sunday in Advent begins around the 36 minute mark.

There was once a young preacher who was given this advice: If, in the middle of your sermon, you forget your train of thought, just step back, pound the podium, and repeat the title of the sermon – and that will get you back on track! Read the rest of this entry »

The Rose Ceremony ~ 1 Samuel 16:1-13

March 26, 2017 Peg Weissbrod

This is one of my favorite passages in all of scripture. Before reality TV and “The Bachelor” (or Bachelorette), God hands the rose to David! Read the rest of this entry »

Deuteronomy 30:6-14

July 10, 2016 Peg Weissbrod

Today’s sermon is a story of God’s faithfulness to us across space and time through the words of scripture. To be honest with you, I thought a lot about throwing this sermon in the trash. Read the rest of this entry »

One Body ~ 1 Corinthians 12: 12-31

January 24, 2016 Peg Weissbrod

Many years ago I had a dream that felt like divine revelation. In the dream I was standing on a theatrical stage taking a curtain call with a company of actors at the end of a performance. We were all holding hands and bowing in a moment of exquisite triumph. Brilliant light filled the theater and the audience’s appreciation was palpable. Read the rest of this entry »

Let Me See Again ~ Psalm 34: 1-8, Mark 10: 46-52

October 25, 2015 Peg Weissbrod

In my Bible the little paragraph heading over the lectionary Gospel Lesson for today reads “The Healing of Blind Bartimaeus.” At first glance that’s what the story seems to be about—a blind beggar sitting by the side of the road, calling out to Jesus and having his sight restored. It’s a riveting tale of a marginalized, disabled person who, courageous in Read the rest of this entry »
