Today’s a great text. The disciples are headed back to Jerusalem. And when you think about it, when you get into this scene, the disciples have to be shaking their heads in disbelief about what just happened: Jesus who had died, who had come back to life, who had been with them for a time, is now gone…and this time, for good. Philip and Andrew tell Jesus that some Greeks want to see him. And Jesus knows that NOW his hour has come. There are at least three other times in John’s Gospel where Jesus declares that his time has not yet come, but now Jesus is deeply aware of a change and he turns towards Jerusalem and the final days.
