July 29, 2018 Peg Weissbrod

This morning’s sermon begins just before the 27 minute mark.

Robin Craig, a member of this Presbytery who was ordained out of Forest Hill Church, recently reignited my practice of gratitude with a little exercise she’s been doing on Facebook called “5 Great Things About Today.” Read the rest of this entry »

Every 500 Years Or So ~ Jeremiah 31: 31-34; Romans 3: 19-28

October 29, 2017 Peg Weissbrod

Listen to the entire service online including, about 29 minutes in, Rev. Dr. John C. Lentz Jr.’s sermon Every 500 Years Or So on Jeremiah 31: 31-34 and Romans 3: 19-28.

Welcome to Reformation Sunday. It’s one of the perks of being a clergy couple–we frequently talk about sermons and other aspects of our ministries over morning coffee. A few weeks ago as we were contemplating the lectionary texts for today Richard said, “I think a good title for a sermon on this text would be “Bread and Whine.” (And not the kind of wine you drink…) Read the rest of this entry »

The Pharisee and the Harlot ~ Luke 7: 36-50

June 12, 2016 Peg Weissbrod

What would life be like if we didn’t have to think or talk about sin? Why don’t we just blithely live our lives and not burden ourselves with all that negative talk about sin? In her little book, Speaking of Sin, Barbara Brown Taylor tells the story of an Eskimo hunter who went to see the local missionary who had been preaching in his village. Read the rest of this entry »
