In 2023, FHC’s Stewardship Ministry Campaign is guided by the words from Psalm 1:3.
They are like trees planted by streams of water, which yield their fruit in its season, and their leaves do not wither. In all that they do, they prosper. – Psalm 1:3, NRSV
One interpretation of this passage suggests that if our roots are firmly planted in God’s holy word and our hearts draw regular sustenance from God, as streams of water, we will grow in God’s grace, bear fruit, and be beneficial to others.
As Christians, we are called to study God’s Word and to serve others. Giving and serving are marks of Christian commitment and discipleship. They are spiritual practices that inform the way we, as a people of faith, see the world and ourselves within it. These spiritual practices, like prayer or regular worship attendance, teach us to use God’s many gifts of material goods, personal abilities, and time as a faithful response to God and the teachings of Jesus Christ.1
The Stewardship Ministry of Forest Hill Church strives to provide information about stewardship that is consistent with this thinking. It is Stewardship’s Mission to help members and visitors see how their contributions of time, talent and material gifts are evidenced within our church family and greater community. A focus on giving and serving, with love at the core, enables us to truly be a church that bears fruit and spreads God’s faithful message.
Christ’s gospel calls for an alternative way of being in the world that places love at the center – not money, power, validation, possessions, popularity or even security. The core of stewardship isn’t money. It’s love. Stewardship isn’t an event or campaign. It’s a spiritual practice.
As God’s people of Forest Hill Church, we are called to support the mission of our church through our commitments of time, talent and financial treasure.
Two easy ways to make your pledge:
Whether you are new to making a financial commitment or this practice has long been part of your life, your support of Forest Hill Church really does matter. Thank you for your support.
