Names for the Messiah: An Advent Study ~ Sundays, Nov 29 - Dec 20
Plan now to join us for Names for the Messiah: An Advent Study, a thought-provoking Adult Ed course led by Rev. Veronica Goines, on Sundays, Nov. 29 – Dec. 20, 9:30–10:30am via Zoom. (This class was full as of Nov. 19.) We will read and discuss Walter Brueggemann’s Names for the Messiah: An Advent Study, and delve into the royal designations given for the Messiah as written in the divine utterance in Isaiah 9:6: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace. The course investigates the royal titles to determine relevance to the first readers. It considers whether or not Jesus fulfilled the titles and how Christians interpret Jesus as representative of the Messianic designations. Brueggemann tackles the questions: “What were these expectations?” and “Did Jesus fulfill them?” Names for the Messiah: An Advent Study is available in paperback and on Kindle through Amazon and the PC(USA) store.
