As part of our special Lenten focus, the Calendar is designed to help us care for the Earth. Despite the controversy created by irresponsible media sources, it is an established scientific fact that the carbon generated from the use of fossil fuel pollutes the atmosphere and is one of the chief causes of global warming.
Our present rate of use of coal, oil, natural gas, and minerals is unsustainable. And the rampant destruction of our forests – nature’s absorbers of burned carbon – is accelerating the day of reckoning.
