WE BELIEVE THAT BLACK LIVES MATTER Get Involved

Congregational CARE

February 26, 2021

If you’re in need of emergency transportation or meals, let the church know. A member of the Ministry of Deacons will contact your CARE (Christ-like Attention Reaching Everyone with Empathy) team to arrange…CARE!

The Deacons divide the entire membership of the church up into 10 different monthly CARE Teams. Each month, a different CARE Team delivers meals, arranges child-care, and coordinates hospital visits. They serve coffee, donuts and act as friendly welcomers on Sunday mornings. They provide greetings cards after church in Fellowship Hall that people can send to a friend or neighbor.

Most importantly, they pray. If you or someone you know is in need of prayer, let us know. These can be short term needs (surgery, rehab, illness, job or family difficulties) or ongoing (long illness, homebound, or loss of a loved one).

Since most of us don’t have many emergencies during the year, the Deacons also do things for the rest of us. Each September, the Deacons host a Fall Festival to kick off the September to May program year. Past festivals have featured tropical lunches, the Euclid Beach Rocket Car, pony rides, a Tiki Bar manned by our youth serving root beer floats, tropical smoothies, and other blender-friendly beverages, and of course games with prizes for young and “young at heart.”

Deacons “minister to those who are in need, to the sick, to the friendless, and to any who many be in distress both within and beyond the community of faith.” ~ The Book of Order
