Our program for middle school and high school youth is designed to provide a welcoming, inclusive, and safe space for young people to explore their beliefs and values, to be in community, and to put faith into action. Youth Group meets during the school year (Sept-May) for….
Sunday morning gatherings – a time for sharing and discussion centered around topics and questions of faith. Themes this year included honoring diversity and centering the voices of those who have been marginalized; how the Bible came to be; and the history of the Presbyterian Church.
Worship – youth attend worship together or with their families and often participate in the service by leading the Call to Worship, reading scripture, serving as ushers, or lighting candles.
Service – regular opportunities for serving others, such as volunteering at the Cleveland Kids’ Book Bank, Forest Hill Church Abundance Food Pantry, and Cleveland Homeless StandDown.
Fun & Fellowship– events such as indoor rock climbing, Halloween Haunted Houses, and Escape Room adventure. Young people also participate in intergenerational church events such as the annual Fall Festival, Gingerbread House Night, Family Fun Night, and Support the Girls Spring Luncheon.
Exploring Membership/Confirmation – Every other year, we offer a series of classes for youth (13+ years) who wish to explore church membership. Young people who participate examine their personal faith and the faith of the church through reading, discussion, field trips, service projects, and relationships with peers and adult mentors. At the conclusion of this class, young people may choose to be confirmed as members by affirming their faith and declaring their intent to take an active part in the life and mission of Forest Hill Church.
Please contact our Director of Family Youth and Children’s Ministry, Amy Wheatley for more information and a current Youth Group schedule.
