Who Do You Say That I Am? ~ Genesis 45: 1-15

August 17, 2014 Peg Weissbrod

(There is no audio for this sermon.)

I don’t know about you, but I prefer to cry silently. Really. In a bathroom, with the door shut and plenty of tissues and time to regain my composure and make sure I look ok before I exit. Joseph embarrasses me in this story. Something about this crying on his brother’s necks is just really weird to me. And then there’s something about this, look at me, lord of Egypt and God sent me business that I find to be a little off putting. Read the rest of this entry »

Gathering the Fragments ~ John 6:1-14; 1 Kings 19:4-13

August 10, 2014 Peg Weissbrod

Just as Elijah had heard the question, “What are you doing here?” I too asked myself that question as our rental car approached the farmhouse just outside of Assisi, the city of Saints Francis and Clare in the spectacular Italian countryside. The farmhouse was a retreat center that was to be my home for nearly one week. A silent retreat center called Simple Peace Hermitage. Read the rest of this entry »

Children at the Border ~ Leviticus 19:33-34; Matthew 19:13-15

August 3, 2014 Peg Weissbrod

Soren Scott Henderson, we baptized you today as a beloved child of God, precious in our Creator’s sight, made in the likeness and image of God. Revealed to Infants ~ Matthew 11:16-19, 25-30

July 6, 2014 Peg Weissbrod

I don’t know about you, but I need to hear Jesus say to me and to you: “Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.” I really need to hear that this week. Because it has not been a quiet week in Lake Wobegon. Read the rest of this entry »

June 22, 2014 Peg Weissbrod

In Genesis 21, who is the bad guy in the story? Is it Ishmael? If we look at the beginning of the story it says that Ishmael was playing with Isaac, which seems harmless enough. But the word Read the rest of this entry »
