Deuteronomy 30:6-14

July 10, 2016 Peg Weissbrod

Today’s sermon is a story of God’s faithfulness to us across space and time through the words of scripture. To be honest with you, I thought a lot about throwing this sermon in the trash. Read the rest of this entry »

Dependent and Free! ~ 2 Kings 5:1-14

July 3, 2016 Peg Weissbrod

Happy Independence Day weekend! Nothing says celebration like a good Bible story about a leper! By now you probably know enough about my preaching style to know that I’m going to have to unpack this story. It’s a richly evocative one that invites us to find ourselves and God in the telling. So here goes… Read the rest of this entry »

June 12, 2016 Peg Weissbrod

Because God wants to crack open the hard shells, resistances, and judgments that stand in the way of the abundant life for which we were created.

In her little book, Speaking of Sin, Barbara Brown Taylor tells the story of an Eskimo hunter who went to see the local missionary who had been preaching in his village. Read the rest of this entry »

Back in Business ~ Luke 7: 11-17

June 5, 2016 Peg Weissbrod

I don’t doubt for a moment that Jesus brought the son of the widow of Nain back to life. Jesus was reported to be a wonder worker, a healer – and the gospels relate several occasions when Jesus brought a dead person back to life. After all, our Christian faith’s foundation is resurrection. Read the rest of this entry »
