The 7th annual Black History Month Concert presented by musical director Caleb A. Wright and hosted by member Shannon Headon will be an evening of African American sacred music and jazz of the past 50 years. National jazz recording artist & pianist Theron Brown will direct a collective of musicians including Michael Hives, Reginald Bowens, Malika Turner, Adrianna Miller, Sierra Delaine, Toyia Wright-Reynolds and more. Local artist Eris Dyson will join us as our Poet Laureate. This is an evening of phenomenal music that you do not want to miss!

Feb. 22, from 4 – 7pm, Chef Eric Wells of Skye LaRae’s Culinary Services presents a hands-on class at Forest Hill Church on preparing a gourmet 4-course meal, which we will sit and enjoy afterwards. Ma’afa, a play written & directed by Terrence Spivey and performed at Olivet Institutional Baptist Church, takes the audience on a mystical journey from present day to the torturous transatlantic slave trade to the antebellum, so a 10-year old girl can to learn her family tree and save an African burial ground in the South. Join us Sat. Feb. 8 for an intergenerational movie night for families and individuals of all ages. Times will depend on showtimes, but plan to meet at church at 3:30pm to drop off kids and carpool to the theater. Kids will watch Zootopia prior to a discussion on race and racism.
