GCC’s Criminal Justice Leadership Team is hosting a Bail Reform Teach-In on Tues. Mar. 26 from 7 – 8:30pm at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Cleve. Hts. The teach-in will be led by Melekte Melaka from the Ohio ACLU and Rachael Collier, former GCC organizer now with the Ohio Student Organization. The Singers Club of Cleveland and the Chancel Choir will combine their powerful voices at 3:00pm on Sun. Mar. 24 in memory of Donal Grube. The concert, Whither the Weather, will feature weather-related selections. Don was a member of our Chancel Choir for 54 years and a member of the Singers Club for 40 years. A festive reception will follow.

Make plans now to enjoy a delicious spaghetti dinner in support of Camp Lilac for transgender youth. The price is $25/person and you can sign up online at Camp Lilac.org. According to their Facebook Event page, the event will feature several raffles and a comedy show by Camp Lilac staffer Shannon Savard! All proceeds will help make Camp Lilac accessible for all trans and gender diverse youth.

Iris Circle invites all women of the church to join them on Tues. Mar. 19 at noon for a potluck lunch in Bodwell Hall. Humera Kahn, an interfaith bridge builder from the Cleve. Ch. of the Council on American Islamic Relations, will help us focus on the things that connect us and encourage us to become catalysts for peace. Come and invite a friend to join us in expanding our loving community of sisterhood.

The “small plate” spiritual education group, Reconnecting to God’s Creation in the 21st Century, will again be offered in 2019. Create a personal plan for reconnection through field trips, special readings and videos, shingrin yoku (forest bathing), and nature observation. The 2019 Homeless Stand Down happens Sat. Jan. 12—and once again volunteers from Forest Hill will serve as personal shoppers for the morning shift. Volunteers will attend a brief training session at church, and afterwards enjoy a fellowship lunch at Nighttown. To sign up, you have to email Jack Breisch…and he can only take 20 volunteers.

On Sun. Oct. 21, the Youth will meet right after worship in the Ruah Room for a quick lunch and then carpool to Shaker Square Cinemas for a 1pm showtime of The Hate U Give. Families can pick up their youth at Shaker Square after the movie lets out about 3:15-3:30 or a ride back to FHC can be provided with advanced notice.
