Ride Lolly the Trolley with the Pacesetters ~ Saturday, Apr. 27, 9:30am - noon

You’re invited to join the Pacesetters for a docent-led history tour of Lakeview Cemetery on Sat. Apr. 27. Lolly the Trolley will pick you up in the church parking at 9:30am sharp. The 2.5 hour trolley ride and tour  costs $25. Email RSVPs to Sheryl Dugard or Deborah Erwin and get ready to see:

  • A chapel made of Tiffany Glass from floor to ceiling
  • One of the largest concrete poured dams west of the Mississippi
  • The original arboretum of Cleveland (hint: it was Lake View Cemetery)
  • Where 25 Cleveland mayors are buried

In addition to the 25 Cleveland mayors, you can also see the burial places of:

  • John D. Rockefeller, founder of the Standard Oil Company of Ohio and the first billionaire in the United States
  • Trailblazer Charles B. Stokes, first African American mayor of a major U.S. city–Cleveland
  • Trailblazer Zelma George, well-known African American philanthropist who was famous for being an alternate in the United Nations General Assembly and, as a headliner in Gian-Carlo Menotti’s opera The Medium, the first African American to play a role that was typically played by a white actress
  • Charles Brush, inventor of the light bulb
  • African American trailblazer Garrett Morgan, whose invention included the tri-color traffic light and gas masks
  • Teacher, author, and lecturer Almeda Adams, who overcame sightlessness to help found the Cleveland Music School Settlement
  • Eliot Ness, Public Safety Director for Cleveland, 1935-1942, who helped bring down Al Capone.
